Walton Midweek Christmas Open

The tournament was on Wednesday 16th December. Another great field turned out with over 160 starters. The weather was great and the course was in superb condition. There were Six divisions in all, four Mens and one Ladies and a Non-golfers section. The Gross winners were Mens Malcon Jacobs 73, Ladies Judy Turner 81. Best Nett Mens I Wilson 66, G Higgs 66, K Rogers 61, J Kelsen 63 and the Nett Ladies H Sharp 62. Best stableford Mens L Smith 41, B Russ 41, B Matchett 43, C Mowatt 44 and Ladies L Dixon 42. Non Golfer winners were W Luxton, B Luxton, K Woolller. There were 24 twos, two players with two twos, D Martinex-Sweeney and N Van Hellemond. Walton Closed Christmas Tournament

The tournament was on Saturday 5th December, there were a good number of members playing this year and the Golfer of the Year sponsored by Mike-Frase Jones was also being played for along with Whacker of the Year. There were two Mens Divisions and one Ladies division.
Mens Golfer of the Year was M Silvester with an excellent round 22-87-65-45. The Ladies Golfer of the Year was shared by D Ring and C Smith with nett 70.

Walton Christmas Open Tournament


The tournament was on Sunday 29th November and was a great day for the club with over 165 starters for the open tournament. There were five divisions, four Mens and one Ladies. The Gross winners were Mens D Sharp 74, Ladies S Garrud 87. The Nett winners were Ladies C Mahon 60, Mens J Higgens 65, R Yates 62, D Cranson 68, B Clarkin 64. There were 26 twos an amazing number for a tournament. The course was in fantastic condition and a credit to the green keeper Terry Harris and his staff and volenteers. A sincer thank you to Brian Tunnicliffe Nissan for his sponsorship of the tournament.

Mens Shootout 2009

There were 22 players that qualified for the inaugural shootout, however only 21 players were able to start. Three players would be eliminated on the first hole followed by one player on each hole after that until just one champion remained. Men were eliminated in the following order:
1st hole D Sharp, B Gordon and J Armstrong. T Woodmass, J Stevens, M King, I Jenkins, B Raynel, G Timms, B Wallace, P Darragh, B Snook, M Munro, R Coleman, B Matchett, R Luxton, G Watts, M Dearnley, G Pitcon, M Begovich. The 2009 Shootout Champion was Bill Lequesne!

Saturday 14th November
There were a large number of starters that t
urned up for the Mens Closing Day this Saturday.


Even Ross Burling turned up on time.





There was an interesting dress
theme going on due to the Men playing off the Ladies tees.

Some of the stand out scores were I Upson with 50 points and almost as good was G Plant with 26 points. A great way to end the season thanks to the guys who did the BBQ the Ladies who made the salads and helped out in the kitchen. Hope everyone had an enjoyable season see you at the Open Christmas Tournament on Sunday 29th November.

Ladies Shootout

The Ladies had their annual Shoot out last Sunday 11th November. A great day for an interesting competition. There were 19 players that went down the first hole after a chip off for the last remaining spots. There were many chip offs along the way but the overall winner was Judy Osborne. Melbourne Cup

Melbourne Cup Tournament

A large turnout with over 130 starters and some great looking hats worn by the Ladies. With the sponsorship of COMAG and Reid & Harrison it was a well supported tournmament, with excellent prizes and an opportunity to win a whole ham.

There were five divisions, one Ladies and three Mens and a Non golfers.
The winners of the best netts for each
division were Ladies Carol Mahon 62, Todd Woodmass 66, Mike Simpson 67 and Elliott Andrew 62.
Stableford winners were J Harty 41, B Candy 41, M King 40 and N Dixon 42. Many other winners on the day and some close scores with the count back system being needed to determine the winners.

There were several twos, T Dewhurst, J Armstrong, G Bruce, M Dearnely, P Dewdney, C Firby, G Timms, G Bentham, G Pickett and R Plant.

Ladies Champion of Champions

The Ladies Champion of Champions was held at Walton this year. The course was in excellent condition and the weather was fantastic.

Our three members of Erin Hawe, Judith Stevens and Karen Devon-Brunton were representing the club in their respective divisions.

Erin Hawe was the Silver Divsion runner up,










Judith Stevens won the Bronze 1 Division.










The Walton Team won the team event a great day by the Ladies and a proud year for Walton.

It was a great turn out with 23 pairs competing in the 18 hole mixed foursomes competition. The weather was excellent and the course
played very well, there were some excellent scores and some average ones too. The winners this year were Bill and Gail Oliver with a great round and a net score of 63.5.


Runner up was Grant Wills and Karo Preston only a few shots behind in 3rd equal place was Myke Dearnley & Linda Dixon and Llyod and Caro Smith

Walton Golf Club Championships

Sunday 26th September

The day had been building for the past four weeks the Westpac Club Championship finals day had arrived at the Walton Golf Club. There were nine divisions of finals playing on Sunday, there were five Ladies divisions, the 9 Holers, Bronze III, Bronze II, Bronze I and the Silver division.

The Men had four divisions which included the Junior B, Junior,

Intermediates and the Senior divisions.

Most finals were played over 36 holes

and the matches were very

close at the half way mark. This year their

were many of our Junior

players had made the finals.


The Mens Junior B had an age difference of 65 years between Bede Higgens and Dudley Jackson, youth ended up winning on the day.


In the Ladies Silver division Erin Hawe and Charlotte Brooks battled it out with Charlotte one up after 18 holes, Erin fought back eventually winning.


In the Mens Senior division Kyle Storey and Rhys Wilcock had a close match with neither player getting more than three ahead. Rhys was also one up after 18holes, Kyle matched Rhys and finishing the match and winning on the 34th hole.


There were many supporters and spectators out on the course

watching some excellent matches.
