Hole in Ones

This year there has been a record number of Hole in Ones by our members at home and away. A total of seven hole in ones have occurred in the first four months of the year. The first was by Bede Higgens one of our promising junior golfers. It was on the 12th hole at Walton, he used his Driver on the 145m par 3 during the first night of the Challenge Twilight Ambrose series on the 29th January. The second was by Shirley Cornes on the 17th hole at the Mount Maunganui Golf Club on the 26th February. The third was by Bill Fort on the 15th hole at Walton, on 4th February. The fourth was by Heather Sharp our Ladies Vice Captain on the 3rd hole at Walton, she used her five wood on the 11th March. The fifth hole in one was by Allan Dodd on the 12th hole at Walton, he used his six iron on the 21st March. The sixth was by Ruth Berquist on the 15th hole at Walton on the 7th April. The last and most recent was Andrew McGiven on the 8th hole at Walton on the 27th May during the club Midweek tournament. An interesting start to the season and hopefully there are still a few left for the rest of us at the club.
